Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made their first public post following the tragic stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy stadium on July 4, which claimed 11 lives and left many injured. The heartbreaking incident occurred during celebrations after RCB won their maiden IPL title, marking a somber turning point for the franchise and its fans.

In a heartfelt social media message to their loyal supporters, affectionately called the “12th Man Army,” RCB announced the launch of a new initiative called “RCB CARES.”

The campaign seeks to "honour, heal and stand beside fans," aiming to support those affected by the tragedy. While detailed plans for the program are yet to be revealed, the franchise emphasized that RCB CARES will be a community-driven platform for meaningful action to build a stronger, safer fan environment moving forward.

"The silence wasn't absence. It was grief. This space was once filled with energy, memories, and moments you enjoyed the most.. But June 4th changed everything," RCB said in their statement.

"In that silence, we’ve been grieving. Listening. Learning. And slowly, we’ve begun to build something more than just a response. Something we truly believe in,” the social media post by RCB said.

The incident at M. Chinnaswamy triggered a major safety review, and the subsequent Cunha Commission report condemned the stadium's infrastructure, labeling it "unsafe" and urging against hosting large-scale public events there without significant changes.

As a consequence, Bengaluru lost the rights to host several coveted cricket events, including matches of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, which were relocated to Navi Mumbai and Guwahati.

Further details about the RCB CARES campaign are expected to be announced soon.
