WATCH: Shubman Gill Run Out After Mix-Up with Sai Sudharsan in 5th Test Against England

Shubman Gill was run out following a miscommunication with Sai Sudharsan during the 5th Test against England, ending a promising partnership just as India looked to build momentum.

India's captain Shubman Gill has had a wonderful Test series against England, scoring 700+ runs. He has also become the highest run-scorer as a captain in Test series for India. But in the ongoing 5th Test match, he was run-out by Gus Atkinson, due to a miscommuniaction with partner Sai Sudharsan.

He was batting on 21 runs, when Gus Atkinson bowled a fullish delivery, which he defended towards the covers. He gave a call to Sudharsan but the bowler ran towards the covers, collected the ball, and was quick enough to send it to the wicket-keeper. Sudharsan refused to run towards the striker's end, and hence, Gill had to turn back.

However, he wasnt quick enough as the ball reached the keeper faster than the batter and he was run out. Gill had formed a good partnership with Sudharsan after India lost two quick wickets. Despite that, the unnecssary risk taken by the Indian captain has put the team in jeopardy.

All eyes on Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair

Indian management decided to grant one more chance to middle-order batter Karun Nair, who hasn't done well in the series yet. While he has scored in 30s and 40s, his conversion rate has been quite low, which is why he was dropped from the team as well. Now that he has gotten another opportunity and India are in need of a partnership, Nair will be under immense pressure.

The Men in Blue are in need of a partnership which can save them from losing further wickets in the match. Due to the rain interruption, the game is most likly to get shortened on day one. However, the rest of the days will be quite crucial for both teams.
