The Indian cricket team is all set to clash against South Africa in the upcoming T20I series, which is slated to start from December 9. The 5-match series is a preparation ground for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. India's two best players, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya, were injured a few days ago but have been named in the squad.

Providing an update on their injury and availability, captain Suryakumar Yadav said that the players are fit to play in the series. During the press conference, Suryakumar also said that they will be in the playing XI ahead of the 1st T20I game.

"Right now, both of them look healthy and fit. They are in the team," said Suryakumar Yadav.

While Gill sustained a neck spasm in the first Test against South Africa, Hardik got injured in the Asia Cup 2025. Now, the star players have made their way into the team once again before the T20 World Cup 2026.

Hardik Pandya revealed that he treats World Cups like his own babies after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. Even before that, during the ODI World Cup 2023, we all saw how Pandya performed in the marquee events. He is a clutch player and has given breakthroughs and scored runs with the bat whenever needed.

Hence, understanding his worth, Suryakumar Yadav lauded the player's contribution to the team and how important he is for India. SKY spoke about his experience and that he brings a balance to the side.

"That’s what (balance) he (Hardik) brings to the table. His experience, the way he has done really well in all the matches, all good games also, all bigger games, ICC events, all ACC events. I think that experience will count a lot. His presence will definitely give a good balance to the side," added SKY.
