Gill, who has already showcased his leadership in 2025 has now been appointed the vice-captain of India’s T20I team for the upcoming Asia Cup. Things are falling into place for Gill now. For Ramandeep, learning flexibility from a player of Gill’s calibre has added a tactical dimension to his approach.
It’s not just about attacking or defending, it’s about reading conditions and responding accordingly. In his words, even decisions like leaving the ball when confronted with a green pitch speak volumes about India’s evolving understanding of T20 cricket, where nuance sometimes outweighs aggression.
“He moulds himself according to the situation which is not easy. He is very tactical I would say. He plays according to wickets. He is not rigid. That's what I have learnt from him, to be flexible. On green wickets, you have to leave the balls as well. Leaving balls and not giving your wicket is also dominance. That's what I am learning from Gill," said Ramandeep Singh as quoted by the New Indian Express.
There’s more to Ramandeep’s appreciation than just technique. His loyalty to KKR shines through as passionately as his admiration for Gill. Despite lucrative offers, Ramandeep revealed that it’s the opportunities and faith shown by KKR that keeps him firmly rooted with the franchise.
“I have never played cricket for money. I always wanted to remain loyal to the franchise that has given me an opportunity at the highest level, But it was KKR that gave me that opportunity and fame so it will always remain close to my heart,” added Ramandeep.
As India finalizes their plans for the Asia Cup, the influence of versatile players like Gill and the ripple effect on teammates like Ramandeep Singh, speaks volumes. The tournament, scheduled to begin in September 2025, may not just test individual brilliance but will spotlight the value of adaptability and team unity. With strategic minds and evolving skill sets, Team India’s T20 blend looks sharper than ever.
