Exactly three years ago, on this day, FC Barcelona presented Robert Lewandowski as their new player. The Polish striker had already established himself as one of the greatest goal scorers of the 21st century before joining the Catalan club in 2023.

Lewandowski started his senior career in Ekstraklasa, the Polish National League, in 2008. However, everything started changing after he joined Borussia Dortmund in 2010.

After scoring 103 Goals for Dortmund in just four years, Lewandowski joined archrivals FC Bayern Munich in 2014. In his eight years with Bayern Munich, Lewandowski won eight Bundesliga and one Champions League titles while scoring 344 goals in just 375 games.

However, despite winning the European Golden Boot in consecutive seasons, he was losing importance in that Munich lineup due to age. Thus, Lewandowski wanted to join a club where he felt secure as a player.

At the same time, FC Barcelona were looking to fill the void left by Lionel Messi, and Lewandowski was the right choice for them. Barcelona signed him with a transfer fee of €45 million + €5 million in variables.
