Virat Kohli’s 2022 Asia Cup campaign remains one of the finest batting exhibitions in T20 cricket. He scored 276 runs in just five innings, averaging a staggering 92, including a memorable unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan, his first T20I century.
Kohli looked refreshed and in sublime touch throughout the tournament. His ability to control the innings, accelerate at will, and find boundaries under pressure reminded fans of his peak years. Even though India didn’t win the title, Kohli’s runs ensured he finished as the leading scorer of the tournament.
Six years earlier, in the 2016 edition, Virat Kohli was again India’s batting pillar. He scored 153 runs in five innings at an average of 76.50, anchoring India’s successful title-winning campaign.
Kohli’s calmness in run chases stood out, especially in the high-stakes clash against Pakistan, where his composed 49 ensured India cruised to victory. His 2016 performance proved that he was India’s go-to man in T20 tournaments.
Suryakumar Yadav lit up the 2022 Asia Cup with his 360-degree batting. Scoring 139 runs at a strike rate well above 160, he played some of the most audacious shots the tournament had ever seen.
His best knock came against Hong Kong, where he smashed 68* off 26 balls, finishing the innings with a flurry of sixes. SKY’s fearless approach added a new dimension to India’s batting lineup, making him one of the standout performers of the tournament.
In the 2016 edition, Rohit Sharma set the tone for India’s campaign with 138 runs in five innings. His 83 against Bangladesh in the tournament opener was a captain’s knock, rescuing India from early trouble.
Rohit’s ability to hold the innings together and then accelerate in the death overs proved crucial. His performances ensured India had the momentum needed to go on and lift the trophy.
Rohit Sharma once again made an impact in the 2022 Asia Cup, scoring 133 runs across five innings. While he didn’t get a big century, his starts at the top were vital in giving India early momentum.
His leadership combined with his batting ensured India remained competitive despite falling short in the Super Four stage. Rohit’s consistency across multiple Asia Cup editions highlights his importance in India’s T20 setup.
