We had seen this kind of scene during the famous 2013-14 Ashes Series in Australia, when a rampant Mitchell Johnson broke the bat of Michael Carberry. That Kokkabura bat of Carberry was broken into two halves as it could not take the pace of fiery Johnson.

However, in the case of Jaiswal, the ball directly hit the handle, which is mainly made with cane and not as strong as the willow part of the bat.

Generally, the handles of the bats are made with slices of cane with rubber in between them. The rubber between the cane helps the bat absorb the shock of the ball. So, since Woakes' ball hit the handle directly, the bat maker this time will not have to face that many trolls.

Anytime we see malfunctions with kits in international sport, the manufacturing company does recieve some online heat from the fans. But, for this time, the bat makers of Yashasvi Jaiswal's bat, SG, will not have to face the troll.

What happened in the first hour of the test match?

India were asked to bat first after the men in blue lost their 14th consecutive toss in international cricket. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal looked in control against the swing of Chris Woakes and the pace and seam of Jofra Archer. India is at 43/0 in 14 overs while writing this article.-
