For Gautam Gambhir, the head coach, this series was a relief. After consistent scrutiny regarding India's red-ball defeat in the past, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy would have given him the confidence to face everyone with pride.
Well, Gambhir's happiness was visible in a video shared by the BCCI on social media, where he was jumping with joy, hugging the rest of the coaching staff in the dressing room. Everyone looked happy and were celebrating wildly after the victory. That shows how important that series was for each and every person present in that dressing room.
Shubman Gill scored 754 runs in five matches in the series, which speaks volumes about the kind of batter he has grown into being. Before coming to England, there was consistent criticism from the fans and the cricket pundits for picking Gill as the captain of India. However, the young lad showed the world what he is capable of.
Even the young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, Dhruv Jurel, and Nitish Reddy played extremely well, giving a glimpse of how safe India’s future is. Under Gill’s captaincy, the new Indian team did whatever they could to win the last match. The special credit goes to Mohammed Siraj for pulling off a fifer in the match and giving a magical end to the final game.
