Wimbledon 2025: Amanda Anisimova vs Iga Swiatek in women’s singles final
Iga Swiatek vs Amanda Anisimova is their career first encounter

On Saturday, Wimbledon will get a new women’s singles champion. 5-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek will play Amanda Anisimova, who is in her first-ever Slam final on July 12. The duo has never played each other and given Swiatek’s Grand Slam track record, she is, no doubt, the favourite to win the title. But, in the past, the grass court of Wimbledon has been a stumbling block for the Pole, who’s been hailed as the Queen of Clay, having won four times in Roland Garros. Swiatek had not made it past the quarter-final mark prior to 2025. Last year, she fell as early as the third round.

Tune in to watch the Wimbledon women's singles finale on July 12 with JioHotstar on OTTplay

The 13-seed Anisimova, on the other hand, is fresh off of defeating World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three set semi-final match. The last time that she was in a Grand Slam semi-final prior to this year, was in 2019. Her Wimbledon best was 2022’s quarter-final, in which she lost to Simona Halep in straight sets. A little under a year later, she went on to take a 6-7 month break from the sport, citing fears over her mental health and potential burnout. This is her first major final since returning to the game a little over a year ago.

Anisimova vs Swiatek will be at 6 pm (IST) on July 12, 2025 on Centre Court. Fans can catch it live on Star Sports Network’s Star Sports 2, with live telecast available on JioHotstar and, by extension, on OTTplay Premium as well.

Road to the finale

Anisimova defeated Yulia Putintseva (6-0 6-0), Renata Zarazua (6-4, 6-3), Dalma Galfi (6-3 5-7 6-3), Linda Noskova (6-2 5-7 6-4), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (6-1 7-6) and Aryna Sabalenka (6-4 4-6 6-4) to set up the final clash with Swiatek.

In her Wimbledon campaign this year, Swiatek made quick work of most of her opponents, havin into a third set decider only once along the way. She began with Polina Kudermetova (7-5 6-1), and followed that up with Caty McNally (5-7, 6-2 6-1), Danielle Collins (6-2 6-3), Clara Tauson (6-4 6-1), Liudmilla Samsonova (6-2 7-5) and Belinda Bencic (6-2 6-0)
