WPL 2026 auction: Date announced, 194 Indian and 66 overseas players to go under the hammer

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Player Auction list has been officially announced, setting the stage for an exhilarating mega auction scheduled to unfold on November 27 in New Delhi. The auction is poised to be the most extensive player redistribution in WPL history, with 277 players competing for 73 coveted slots across the five franchises.

The Women's Premier League 2026 auction will take place in November 2027 in New Delhi.
A significant highlight of the auction list is the strong domestic and international mix: 194 Indian players are vying for 50 slots, comprising both experienced capped players (52) and a vast contingent of uncapped young talent (142). The overseas representation is equally competitive, featuring 66 capped international stars and 17 uncapped players, all aiming for the 23 slots reserved for foreign recruits.

Among the players registered, 19 have set their base price at the highest tier of INR 50 lakh, making for fierce bidding wars among top franchises. Eleven players are available at the INR 40 lakh bracket, while a sizable group of 88 players have opted for the INR 30 lakh base price. This range reflects the diversity in experience and marketability, ensuring a dynamic and unpredictable auction day.
The auction will commence with a marquee set of eight star players who will be the centre of attention for all teams and fans. This prominent group includes India’s Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh alongside international giants like Sophie Devine (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Alyssa Healy (Australia), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Meg Lanning (Australia), and Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa). These players will undoubtedly spark intense bidding due to their proven match-winning abilities and leadership experience.
Franchises are entering this auction with varied strategies, balancing the retention of key players with the pursuit of fresh talent. The UP Warriorz, with the largest purse of INR 14.5 crore, are expected to be active bidders, especially after releasing marquee players like Deepti Sharma and Alyssa Healy.
With Meg Lanning in sizzling form, currently the highest run-scorer in the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League, they are likely to compete fiercely for her signature and other top names.
