The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction brought high drama as all five franchises rebuilt their squads for the upcoming season. With a pool of 277 players available, teams collectively spent ₹40.8 crore to secure 67 signings including 23 overseas recruits. There were many intense bidding wars, strategic use of RTM cards, and several surprise picks as teams looked to strengthen core areas ahead of the new campaign.

Costliest buys and major highlights

UP Warriorz dominated the headlines by retaining Deepti Sharma through the Right-to-Match card for ₹3.2 crore, making her the most expensive player of the auction. Mumbai Indians made a strong statement by securing Amelia Kerr for ₹3 crore, while Gujarat Giants were quick to add experience with Sophie Devine for ₹2 crore.

UP Warriorz also picked up former Australia skipper Meg Lanning for ₹1.9 crore, reinforcing their batting strength. Laura Wolvaardt became one of Delhi Capitals’ marquee additions at ₹1.1 crore, while UPW used RTM again to bring back Sophie Ecclestone.
