Aarjav Trivedi is currently enjoying the success of his web series OK Boss. The actor played the lead role in the show alongside Devarsh Patel.
Aarjav, who has been a part of films like Duniyaadari, also told us why it did not work, in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay. The actor spoke about his future projects, among other things.
Excerpts from the interview:
What made you pick Ok Boss?
The script is amazing. It is my only focus when picking a project. My character too appeared fresh. I had never worked with Devarshi and Aarohi either, so that attracted me to the show as well.
Tell me more about your character.
He’s a Jamnagar-based character who is Kathiawadi and loves his own company. He has shifted to Ahmedabad for a job, so he is a fine blend of two cultures. He doesn’t understand English well and that impacts his job. He is confused throughout his life about his job and not getting a promotion.
What was your experience working with Aarohi?
We met during a promotional activity. We didn’t converse much. I knew that she was friendly and bubbly. It was an amazing experience working with both Aarohi and Devarshi.
Duniyaadari did not work at the box office but was accepted on OTT. What made it work on OTT?
With the theatrical release, I felt the script was good but the problem was with the release date. There were huge Bollywood films lined up for release back then and the demonetisation period hit us badly.
What has your experience with the digital medium?
I think OTT works well for me now. Here, we can convert films into web shows. The fun part is that you enjoy it as much as a film and yet, have the option to change an episode. Working on a web show is fun too. There isn’t much of a difference between films and web series, but when shooting for a web series, you are clear about which episode is being shot. That is not quite the case with films.
How is working for web series different from working on films?
I had already thought about never repeating any of my characters. All the characters I have played to date are different. With web series and films, there isn’t much difference, but it is fun to work in both mediums.
What’s next for you after OK Boss?
Away From Home. It is a web series. The date hasn't been released yet. I have another Gujarati film too. We’re not sure about when or where that will be released too.
