Shieladitya Moulik’s third directorial venture, Cheena Badaam, will be released on June 10 with Yash and Ena Saha in the lead. After Ishaa Saha-starrer Sweater, and Arpita and Shaheb Chattopadhyay’s Hridpindo, the director’s upcoming film deals with the pitfalls of mobile addiction among the younger generation. Soon, his political drama Mastermoshai Apni Kichu Dekhenni, which has Yash and Nusrat Jahan in lead, will hit the theatre.

Interestingly, Raj Chakraborty’s Habji Gabji which hit the theatre on June 1, also delves into the dark reality of mobile gaming addiction. While talking to OTTPlay exclusively, the director clarified, “Cheena Badaam is very different from Habji Gabji. Our film talks about the social impact of mobile phone addiction. Hijab Gabji was more about gaming disorder. In Cheena Badaam, we explore how the presence of mobile phones upset the warmth of relationships. Physical interactions are being replaced by video calls and social media. The protagonist in the film develops an app to bring people closer. We see how that creates distance between the protagonist and partner.”

Yash and Ena both are known for their mainstream commercial cinema. Talking about their performance, Shieladitya said, “It is a content-driven film and it barely has any action. For the first time, Yash will be seen as such a character. Same with Ena. It is probably her first film as a lead actress.”

Ena Saha is also the producer of the film. ‘She is non-interfering and has no air as a producer. She worked hard for her role, listened to the director and never threw any tantrums. It was a pleasure working with her,” he said.

Ena is producing Shieladitya’s next film, Mastermoshai Apni Kichu Dekhenni. “She never asked for a role in this film. She understood that there is no character for her and got involved with the project just as a producer. I will define Ena as a humble human being,” the director said.
