Music director Hesham Abdul Wahab: 'I wanted to make a statement through Kerala Crime Files 2' | Exclusive

Kerala Crime Files, the second season of the Malayalam web series, is receiving plaudits for its exceptional production quality in every way. Hesham Abdul Wahab is one among them; he composed the music for the sequel, which is streaming on JioHotstar. The young musician discussed some of the challenges of working on Kerala Crime Files 2 and the significance of the production to his career in an interview with OTTplay.

'Wanted to make a statement through KCF2"

Since Hesham primarily worked on romantic dramas, feel-good pictures, and family entertainers, he said that working on a thriller was an interesting task. "I wanted to let people know that I composed the music for a thriller. And I think I made it as loud as I could," he added. The music director continued by saying that he had completed enough homework for this project, particularly in terms of adding the appropriate number of emotional layers and creating the appropriate effect in the themes covered in the web series. 

'KCF 2 almost the most challenging project till date'

Since the project started a long time ago and had numerous adjustments over time, Hesham noted that Kerala Crimes Files 2 is nearly his most challenging project to date. The team was careful not to make any mistakes. As a result, he continued, "We went back and reviewed each episode and considered how to improve it." The musician went on to say that he occasionally experienced creative block. "It took me a week to compose the score for the part where the investigating cops are creating a dog's route map. It took a while to crack some of the sequences, but the team deserves praise since without them, it would not have been possible," he said. 

According to Hesham, it is a complex procedure to bring in the proper balance of emotional scales. The narrative of the sequel is more intricate than that of the first season. He remained interested in the script even when Ahammed was narrating it. He stated that the story gradually reveals the truth and has a strong, unsettling vibe. The music director went on to say that it was a one-of-a-kind experience for him and that he is currently enjoying the positive response the series is receiving from the entire team.
