Actor Karan Kundrra has been a part of shows like Kitni Mohabbat Hai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum, and films including Mubarakan and Thank You For Coming. The actor, who has a sizeable fanbase recently got into an exclusive conversation with OTTplay where he spoke about the well-known debate: Theatre Vs OTT, his thoughts on the debate, and how according to him the charm of theatres will never fade away.

Giving an example of how Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor has done so well in theatres even after the boom of OTT platforms, Karan Kundrra said, "Animal did pretty well in theatres. I am saying it is unfair to compare two platforms. Jab bhi main kisi film ka promo ya trailer dekhta hoon tab mujhe pata hai ki it is worth going to theatres to watch." (Whenever I watch a promo or trailer of a film, I understand that it is worth going to theatres for this film).
Further speaking about how content has become so important and hence the challenges on OTT platforms, the Love Adhura actor said, "Yes! The responsibilities have gone up. It is the responsibility of an actor to make sure that they (audience) will have to open the app, and come and watch it. Unlike television, we can’t make you sit at 8.30 pm only."
Going forward, he talked about how even in films, the makers need to make a film such that the audience wants to get up and visit the theatre for the film. "Similarly, talking about films, you have to do such an amazing job that al lazy person gets up and say ki iske liye to jaana hi hai theatre and that is when a film like Animal is born. That is when a good OTT show is born or a good television show is born because if there won't be any TRP if you put up any kind of content," he said.
"So there is a certainty responsibility from the makers, directors, writers, actors, and team to make good product according to what platform you are on. Agar aap bahot achi film nahi banaoge to log OTT pe bhi nahi dekhenge, they will say ki ye OTT show dekhna better hai rather than this film (If you don't make a very good film then people will not even watch it, they will say this other show is better to watch rather than this film)," Karan added.
