When Bollywood filmmakers attempt to produce a historic film, it often leads to several controversies, owing to objections by certain caste organisations that work towards ‘safeguarding’ their culture like Shri Rajput Karni Sena. Films such as Padmaavat, Jodha Akbar, and Akshay Kumar's forthcoming Prithviraj have all received wrath of the organisations for allegedly showing the community in a bad light. Makers have been forced to change the title or sometimes, even face ban in certain states. Just days before the release, the film, Prithviraj has again landed in controversy as Akhil Bharatiya Veer Gurjar Mahasabha has said that the warrior was a Gurjar and hence, the film should portray him as a Gurjar and not a Rajput.
