ANTHONY ROMANO is a supper club singer with a style like Sinatra and the crooners of the 50s. He is attractive and charming, but he only gets involved with women that he knows he won't fall in love with. MIA RIVERA is a literature professor who is in the process of divorcing her recovering alcoholic husband. Their overbearing mothers, SOPHIA and MARLENE, plot to get them together from behind the scenes. Of course, Anthony and Mia immediately dislike each other upon meeting. which their mothers think is perfect! The mothers arrange for a new apartment for Mia and her eleven-year-old daughter ROSE in Anthony's building. As they grow closer, Anthony and Mia try dating, and are none the wiser to their mothers' schemes. But the path to romance may prove to be no song and dance, because it's not long before the mothers' meddling gets out of control, causing the relationship to backfire. Frustrated and feeling defeated, the mothers decide to pray and leave it up to fate, inadvertently causing Anthony and Mia to meet up again at a movie theater where it all began. As Mia and Anthony are finally ready to commit to their relationship, we learn in a final twist that their mothers aredeceased (ala The Sixth Sense) and were operating from a higher realm to bring their children together.
