Ranganayaki follows the life of a music teacher who marries her colleague, Madhav(M. G. Srinivas) despite his family being orthodox. The situation takes an ugly turn when the music teacher falls prey to gang rape.

This is the only Kannada film to be selected for the Panorama Section of the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
