Veer-Zara is a 2004 Indian Hindi - language period romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra and produced by him and his son Aditya chopra. Zaara Hayaat Khan is a bubbly Pakistani woman with a political background. Zara’s Sikh care - taker, Bebe whose dying wish is her ashes to be scattered in Sutlej river and Zaara goes to India to fulfill her last wish. Her bus meets with an accident and Veer, an army officer, saves her. They get to know each other and Veer persuades her to visit his village for Lohri.
Everyone loved her at his village and she also had a lot of fun. They both fall in love with each other but it's time for Zaara to leave. Her family is tense and they send her fiancé Raza Sharazi to get her. Zaara leaves for Lahore but before leaving, they both confess their love and decide that this is the end of their love story.
Veer quits Indian air-force travels to Pakistan and Zaara immediately hugs him when she sees him causing her father to fall sick. Zaara reluctantly agrees to marry Raza to protect her family’s reputation and Veer plans to return to India. Raza in a fit of rage, wrongly imprisoned Veer accusing him of being an Indian spy.
He is in jail for 22 years and a budding lawyer Saamiya Siddiqui takes up his case and vows to get him justice.
