Diana, the Princess of Themyscira aka Wonder Woman, returns to the silver screen. Based on the iconic DC character, Wonder Woman 1984 is directed by Patty Jenkins, and the plot is set in 1984 against the backdrop of the Cold War. Wonder Woman has to overcome two powerful opponents - a shrewd businessman named Maxwell Lord, and the other a friend-turned-enemy (the arch-nemesis from the comics, Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah). Amid the ongoing battle, Diana sees her past love, Steve Trevor, come back from the dead after he sacrificed his life for the greater good at the end of the first film. Sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman and the ninth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), the film stars Gal Gadot as the titular superhero, Chris Pine plays the role of Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord, and Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen also reprise their roles in guest appearances.
