83: Sachin Tendulkar lauds Ranveer Singh for ‘soaking in’ Kapil’s traits

Ranveer Singh starrer 83 is undoubtedly taking the whole country through the glorious moment from the history of Indian cricket history once again. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the movie narrates the true events of the 1983 World Cup, in which India made history by winning against the West Indies team. With the movie being highly acclaimed, Ranveer has been receiving applause for acing the role of captain Kapil Dev, the legendary cricketer of all time.

Adding one more feather to the cap, Ranveer received an appreciation note from the cricket star Sachin Tendulkar lately, for his performance. Taking the news to his Twitter handle, the former Indian cricket team captain hailed Ranveer about his brilliant portrayal of Kapil Dev. “Really soaked in all the @therealkapildev paaji traits to make us reminisce the iconic moments of our first-ever World Cup victory,” reads Tendulkar’s note. He further wrote about how the win had inspired him as a little boy to be a cricketer.

Meanwhile, Ranveer was delighted reading the tweet, as it is evident from the reaction he wrote. He mentioned how Tendulkar has inspired a whole population, with his skills. “And then the little boy went on to inspire generations!,” wrote Ranveer, and further thanked Tendulkar for his words. 

However, 83 is facing a tough time at the box office currently, despite the much-anticipated wait and the positive responses. The drama 83 was released alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and Allu Arjun’s Puspa: The Rise, both of them being superhits. Director Kabir has also recently spoken about his plans of releasing the film on OTTs, following the unexpected downfall.

The movie stars Deepika Padukone as Romi Dev, Kapil’s better half. It also has Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasi, Pankaj Tripathi and Ammy Virk and others playing major roles.
