US actor Danny Masterson has been given a sentence of 30 years to life in prison for raping two women. Danny Masterson, the actor most famous for playing Steven Hyde on That '70s Show, was convicted of violently raping two women earlier this year and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on September 7. The two women who Masterson was found guilty of raping addressed the court before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo sentenced the 47-year-old actor.

Before imposing a sentence, Judge Charlaine Olmedo allowed the victims of his acts to read impact statements in court. Leah Remini, a well-known former Scientologist and actress, was present at the sentencing hearing on Thursday and consoled the women before and after they gave their comments. US media stated that one of the women remarked, "I wished I had reported him earlier to the police." According to Reuters, another woman told Masterson: "I forgive you. Your sickness is no longer mine to bear."

In the courtroom for the sentencing were the actor's wife, model and actress Bijou Phillips; brother, Malcolm in the Middle actor Chris Masterson.

Having been accused of raping three different women in separate occasions between 2001 and 2003, Masterson was first detained in June 2020. The actor, who had previously rejected all of the accusations against him and pled not guilty, was later freed after posting bond on his $3.3 million bail.

Between 1998 and 2006, Masterson appeared in all eight seasons of That '70s Show. He is the lone original cast member that did not show up in the That '90s Show revival on Netflix. On the show, which aired earlier this year, his character was never mentioned. Additionally, he played a prominent role in the Netflix series The Ranch, although his character was later removed from the show after he was sacked following the initial rape claims against him in 2017.
