Adam McKay’s highly anticipated Don’t Look Up is definitely one of the most talked about films awaiting release. Not only does it feature a star studded cast but it is also a satirical commentary on one of the biggest issues that humanity faces today - the climate crisis. The director recently opened up about how he used the film to address the issue.
In a conversation with Deadline, Adam talked about the absurdity of how some people deny climate change, which is arguably one of the biggest problems of the present world. He revealed that he had tried to present an issue as serious as that in line with the comedic elements of how people spread misinformation around it and deny it even in the face of facts.
He also talked about how people often resort to concentrating on shallow issues even when there are more urgent crisis looming on the horizon. The director also added that his aim through the film was not to educate climate change deniers but rather drive home its seriousness to the people who already believe in it.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in leading roles along with Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Rob Morgan, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Scott Mescudi, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep.
Don't Look Up will have a limited theatrical release on December 10 and will be available to stream on Netflix from December 24 onwards.
