The horror television series Adhura premiered on July 7. The Hindi horror genre is Prime Video's maiden foray. Adhura, which is co-directed by Gauravv Chawla and Ananya Banerjee, is doing well with viewers. Ananya spoke exclusively to OTTplay about the horror genre, why it doesn't function well in India, her personal paranormal experience, and much more.

When asked about her thoughts on if Bollywood is lacking somewhere as even today, Hollywood horror is more appreciated, Ananya said, "Hollywood and Bollywood ke comparison se darna nahi chahiye. Actually India has managed to make a lot of really memorable horror pieces, so I don’t think we should take it as a baggage on our heads. I think we should in fact have more fun with it because it is the kind of genre which also requires a lot of technical assistance whether it is sound whether it is cinematography and VFX, so as Indian cinema is evolving and these technicians and this technical aspect is getting better and better and better. We just keep doing the work and we’ll get there. They have studios and what not there, but we have brains."

Further talking about her experience working on the project, Banerjee revealed, "Because we shot in a place like Ooty and there were times when it was raining and it was fog covered so the atmosphere was quite correct, what we tried to show in the in the series as well is what we were experiencing. Sometimes you wake up so early in the morning every thing was so it cold or hot and quiet, distant, even leaving one set and going to the other one."

Coming back to Adhura, the series revolves around a prestigious boarding school in Ooty, where strange events take place that seem to be connected to Vedant, a 10-year-old new student. When the batch of 2007 returns for its reunion, Adhiraj Jaisingh, an ex-student must face what he did fifteen years ago. But things take a horrifying turn when Vedant and Adhiraj's paths collide. A dark secret begins to reveal itself threatening the lives of everyone on campus.
