Ever since Adipurush hit the theatres, it has grabbed headlines on prime-time news channels – and for the wrong reasons. While some people complain about the poor quality of dialogues delivered on screen, a few of them even raise concerns about the abysmal quality of visual effects used in the film.
This movie is primarily based on the highly regarded Hindu mythological epic Ramayana and features actors Kriti Sanon and Prabhas in pivotal roles. Despite having such a powerful storyline and cast, this film has tanked at the box office. The film released on June 16 and has just managed to earn about ₹50 crores at the box office in India.
Some extremist elements of a particular community have urged the State Governments of various States to ban the screening of the film. Depressingly, this news can affect the business of the makers of the film, which is touted to be the most expensive film of the decade. Some reports suggest that the film is budgeted at ₹500 crore.
In the middle of such news, All India Cine Workers Association have written a letter to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to ban the film. The letter also requests the Central Government to file an FIR against director of Adipurush, Om Raut who allegedly showed Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in bad light.
“All Indian Cine Workers Association demands ban on screening the movie Adipurush. The movie’s screenplay and dialogues are clearly defaming the image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. Adipurush movie is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan dharma,” read the letter.
The letter adds, “We request Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji order to stop screening this movie and immediately order a ban of Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future. We need FIR against the Director (Om Raut), Writer (Manoj Muntasir Shukla) & the producers of the Movie.”
Meanwhile, the makers of Adipurush have collectively decided to rewrite the dialogues of the film and re-release it at the theatres soon.
