Prime Video Video has now announced a premiere date for its original film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan,' which is headlined by Sara Ali Khan. The film revolves around the narrative of an underground radio station which is led by a young and courageous woman who changed the course of India's freedom struggle in the year 1942. The film is an inspiration by freedom fighter Usha Mehta's journey. Sara will be seen essaying the role of Usha in the film.

Ae Watan Mere Watan is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 21, 2024. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra.

Inspired by true events, the film is directed by Ek Thi Daayan fame Kannan Iyer and is written by Darab Farooqui and Iyer. Alongside Sara Ali Khan, the cast of the film also includes Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O' Neil, and Anand Tiwari in pivotal roles. The film will also see a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.

Sharing a new poster on their official social media account, Prime Video announced the release date and wrote in the caption: "resilience in her voice, and the spirit of freedom in her heart, hear what she has to say to you this #WorldRadioDay 📻"

Ae Watan Mere Watan draws inspiration from the incredible journey of freedom fighter Usha Mehta and also pays homage to unsung heroes of the country. It captures the bravery, patriotism, sacrifice, and perseverance displayed by the young people of India throughout the liberation movement.

Emraan Hashmi to play this role in Ae Watan Mere Watan

If reports are to be believed Emraan will have an extended cameo in the film and he will be portraying the role of socialist political leader Ram Manohar Lohia. Ram was a mentor to Usha Mehta and played an important role in establishing Congress Radio during the Quit India movement of 1942.

“It’s a small but significant role in the narrative, and Emraan has fully justified it with his performance. He filmed his part in Mumbai last year and was more than delighted to contribute to this story of freedom fighters. Emraan’s presence adds an extra layer of excitement to this film,” a source close to the development told PeepingMoon.
