Karan Johar has recently been sharing his opinions on a wide range of topics on his Instagram story. After talking about people going under the knife and also giving his take on loyalty, the filmmaker has shared his thoughts on what kind of genre works nowadays at the box office. In Hindi, Karan expressed that moviegoers now accept everything from action to chick flicks, leaving no room for conviction.

Karan Johar's commentary on film genres and box office trends

KJo stated, "Bada scale chahiye toh woh banao! Action chali! Action banao! Love story chali toh love story banao! Chick flick hit huyi toh waha jao! Mausam har hafte badalta hai. Conviction har hafte marta hai! Box office hai bhaiyya Instagram reel nahi... 30 second ki trending mein reh jaoge wahi ke wahi!"

This statement loosely translates as, "If you want a big scale, then create that! If action is in demand, make an action movie! If a love story is in demand, make a love story! If a chick flick becomes a hit, go there! The weather changes every week. Conviction dies every week! It's the box office, not an Instagram reel. You'll stay stuck in the same 30-second trend!"

Insights on cosmetic procedures and natural beauty by Karan Johar

Earlier, Karan wrote in Hindi (here's the translated version) about botox and fillers, saying: "Go for fillers, but you're not satisfied... Put on makeup; age diminishes. Inject as much Botox as you want, and you'll appear as if a bee stung you. Changing the nose won't turn the scent into perfume. Even if the exterior changes after going under the knife... But, my dear, nature doesn't change."

Meanwhile, the filmmaker is preparing for his upcoming production, Kill, an action thriller under the direction of Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. The film stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala in the lead roles and will hit the big screen on July 5, 2024.
