After its screening at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last year, Arjunn Dutta’s Deep Fridge will now be screened at the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) in the Indian Cinema Competition section. The festival that will start on February 29 will end on March 7.

Along with Deep Fridge, Samarpan (Assamese), Shyamchi Aai (Marathi), Ayothi (Tamil), The Letters (Jaintia), Outhouse (Hindi), Raastha (Malayalam), Chaver (Malayalam), Bumper (Tamil), Pookkalam (Malayalam), Abracadabra (Kannada) and Joseph’s Son (Manipuri) will also compete in the section.

Directed by Arjunn, Deep Fridge features Abir Chatterjee and Tnusree Chakraborty in the lead. Along with them, Debjani Chatterjee, Anuradha Mukherjee, Kaushik Chatterjee, Shoaib Kabir, and Arya Dasgupta are part of the film.

The film delves into two characters Swarnava and Mili who are victims of this vicious, prejudiced idea of a perfectly happy marriage. Will they be able to seek closure after their divorce and see things with more clarity to build a guilt-free future for both of them separately which is fair to their only child Tatai?

Talking about the film, Arjunn said, “I’ve always been a keen observer and have been intrigued by interpersonal dynamics. Divorce has become a common aspect of today's society than ever before yet we refuse to talk about it. I've seen couples around me who are not happy in their marriages and over time they got divorced. But one thing has always absorbed me, does the essence of the old connection wane away completely or does it last somewhere deep inside the heart forever?

So 'Deep Fridge' chronicles the journey of such a couple with a child post their divorce.”
