It feels like no Bollywood movie is safe from fans calling for a boycott of the movie on social media. Recently, a long list of movies have fallen victim to this trend including Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan. The latest movie to make its way into the boycott list is Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming movie, Dobaaraa.

Bollywood fans have taken to Twitter in numbers to call for the boycott of Dobaaraa, and this has made ‘#CancelDobaaraa’ trend on the social media platform. The main reason for fans calling for its boycott seems to be because of some of the comments director Anurag Kashyap has previously made on the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Some fans have even dug up old tweets made by the filmmaker for better effect.

Interestingly, Taapsee and Kashyap were recently asked about the recent trend of fans calling for the boycott of Bollywood movies and they answered that they are feeling left out of the fad and urged the fans to also boycott their movie.

“Please everyone boycott our film, Dobaaraa. I want to be in the same league as Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Rakshabandhan. I feel left out,“ Kashyap said in an interaction with the media as reported by India Today.

Apart from Dobaaraa, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, Dhaakad and Shamshera were also movies that captured the wrath of the fans on social media for various reasons.

Dobaaraa, which is the Hindi remake of the Spanish movie Mirage, also features Pavail Gulati, Nassar, Rahul Bhat, Himanshi Choudhry and Saswata Chatterjee in important roles. The movie, which is touted to be a mystery drama, is set to hit theatres on August 19.
