Even before the release of their big budget, ‘mass’ entertainer Aaraattu, director B Unnikrishnan and scriptwriter Udaykrishna will team up for their next. The filmmaker had shared a photo of the duo along with editor Shameer Muhammed announcing their next collaboration.
“On a new journey, a new beginning… planning our next one together,” wrote Unnikrishnan. The duo most recently worked in Aaraattu, which has Mohanlal in the lead role. The big budget film, which was reportedly made on a budget exceeding Rs 15 crore, was shot following strict COVID-19 protocols when the lockdown rules were lifted last year in Kerala.
The ‘mass’ action-entertainer has Mohanlal playing the role of Neyyattinkara Gopan, who travels from Thiruvananthapuram to Palakkad, only to find out about the plight of the people living in areas near the land he has bought. The movie also has Kannada actress Shraddha Srinath making her Mollywood comeback. The actress will eb seen essaying the role of an IAS officer.
Aaraattu was initially scheduled to release in theatres in August, but was postponed after Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham was moved to the same month. It remains to be seen if the Kerala government will reopen theatres in the next few weeks or if Marakkar will once again be pushed to another date. The makers of both Aaraattu and Marakkar have openly stated that their movies will release only in theatres.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently shooting for Prithviraj’s directorial Bro Daddy in Hyderabad. He will next join Jeethu Joseph’s 12th Man and after that will resume filming his own directorial debut, Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure.
