Aarambham is a fantasy thriller that had its theatrical release on May 10, 2024. The film had low-key promotions, and not many even knew such a film was coming out in the first place. Not many know that Ajay Nag is an alumnus of the popular Annapurna College of Film and Media (ACFM), which is owned by Akkineni Nagarjuna. What is special about Aarambham is that it has many technicians from the same college. Dev Gandhi Kundu is the director of photography, Aditya Tiwari and Preetham Gayatri are the editors of the film, and CS Manicka Prabhu is the sound designer.
Aarambham is based on the Kannada novel Neenu Ninnolage Khaidi, written by Anush A Shetty. The film is a prison-break drama and has many thrills that catch your attention. Ahead of the film's OTT release, director Ajay says that the subject and genre of Aarambham perfectly suit the OTT audience and will be talked about for a long time.
Aarambham has Mohan Bhagath, Ravindra Vijay and Supritha Sathyanarayan in key roles. Aarambham was made as a direct OTT release and shaped up in 2021. But with COVID, things got postponed, and as the theatrical business got better in late 2023, the makers decided to have a theatrical release.
Aarambham was made on a very tight budget and wrapped up in just 30 days. Ajay is from Karnataka but made the film in Telugu. When asked about this, he said in an interview that he had no contacts in the Kannada film industry, and it was Annapurna College of Film that gave him all the learnings to make it big in the industry.
