Tamil superstar Suriya seems quite upbeat about his wife Jyothika's upcoming movie Shaitaan. He took to Instagram to share his excitement by sharing the movie's first-look poster and declaring that he was "eagerly waiting" for the release of the movie's teaser.

Along with the poster, the filmmakers also announced that the first teaser of this supernatural thriller will be unveiled on January 25, ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. "#Shaitaan is coming to cast a spell on you," tweeted Ajay Devgn, while confirming the movie's teaser launch date.

Shaitaan first look poster

The poster features three main characters of the movie including Jyothika, Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan . While Jyothika looks very concerned giving a damsel in distress vibe, Ajay looks shocked but seemingly in control of himself, suggesting he's ready to take on the evil forces head-on. On the other hand, Madhavan seems a little too excited given the dark theme of the movie. He wears a sinister smirk hinting at the possibility that he would be the main antagonist in this supernatural thriller.

Or this poster might have been deliberately designed to give us a false impression of the main characters. For all we know, Jyothika's character isn't as innocent as portrayed, and Madhavan might be a modern-day wizard wielding magical powers that could assist the hero in overcoming the dark forces.

However, the first look poster suggests a full-fledged horror show, which has been long overdue at the Indian box office. It's safe to assume that this film deals with the subject of black magic, promising a spine-chilling thriller.

Jyothika's return to Hindi cinema

Shaitaan is helemed by debut director Janki Bodiwala and it will mark Jyothika's retrun to Hindi cinema after a long gap. Even though she made her big screen debut with the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna in 1997, she found her success in the Tamil film industry.

Jyothika focused on solidifying her position in Tamil cinema during her formative years. She was one of the top female stars in the South Indian film industry when she got hitched to Suriya in 2006. Following this she took a long break from acting to raise a family.

After about a five-year hiatus, Jyothika made her acting comeback with 36 Vayadhinile. And she recently shifted to Mumbai to explore other career opportunities outside Tamil cinema.
