If the buzz on social media is to go by, Ajith's Pongal release Thunivu is all set to stream on the OTT giant Netflix from February 10. The Pongal release has been raking in the moolah at the box office and the screens remain housefull during the second week after the release. According to the latest reports, the action entertainer will breach the Rs 200 crore mark today. The domestic collection has already surpassed Rs 140 crores. Since films have to stream on OTT, 30 days after their theatrical release, the team of Ajith's Thunivu is gearing up for the same. The film's director H Vinoth had gone to Sabarimala to pay his gratitude for the success of the film.
Ajith plays a stylish baddie in Thunivu who robs a bank along with his accomplice Kanmani (Manju Warrier, who is teaming up with Ajith for the first time). The star cast includes Samuthirakani, GM Sundar, Prem Kumar, Bagavathi Perumal, Veera, Ajay, John Kokken, Mamathi Chari, Mahanadi Shankar, Chirag Jani, Darshan, Pavani Reddy, Amir, Ciby Bhuvana Chandran, Bala Saravanan and GP Muthu to name a few.
Music for the film is by Ghibran and the songs Chilla Chilla, Kasethan Kadavulada and Gangsta have gone on to become chartbusters. While the cinematography is by Nirav Shah, editing is by Vijay Velukutty. The film has been bankrolled by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP and distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. After Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai, Thunivu marks the third collaboration between Ajith, H Vinoth and Boney Kapoor.
The film released on January 11 and clashed with Vijay's Varisu, a family drama directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju. An Ajith and Vijay film clashing on the same day after 8 long years was reason for quite some excitement among fans of both actors.
