Ajogyo actress Rituparna Sengupta gives ED summons a miss, promises to meet later

Rituparna Sengupta has teamed up with Prosenjit Chatterjee for the 50th time in Kaushik Ganguly’s Ajogyo. The film which also features Silajit Majumder, Lily Chakraborty, and Ambarish Bhattacharya, will be released on June 7. Meanwhile, Rituparna was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate regarding the ration scam. The ED summoned her to the CGO Complex at 11 pm on Wednesday. But the actress gave it a miss as she was abroad and sent an email stating that she couldn't appear. However, she promised to get in contact after coming back. 

According to the initial reports, the ED summoned the actress to interrogate based on some bank transactions. Rituparna told the media, “I was surprised to hear this. I don't know anything about it. What is the ration scam? I don't have any idea.” 

She further said, “I have several of my films to be released soon. Amidst this, this news is not good for me. It was a defamation for me. I have been working hard all my life. It is unfair to suddenly say something like this.” Will she appear before the ED? The actress was asked. She said that she would decide after consulting her lawyer. 

Previously, Rituparna was questioned by the ED regarding the Rose Valley scam. Rose Valley once produced several Bengali films where Rituparna acted. That was why she met the Rose Valley chief Goutam Kundu.
