Akshay Kumar’s recent on screen outing, Samrat Prithviraj, failed to live up to its hype when it came to box office earnings. Despite being made on a massive budget, reportedly extending upto Rs 300 crores, the film put up a dismal performance at the box office earning less than Rs 80 crores. But it seems that Kumar is not one to let his failures define him. The star has reportedly signed on for almost three films, all within a span of one month.
It was reported that Kumar has signed on for films backed by Karan Johar, Bhushan Kumar and Dinesh Vijan. Johar’s production company, Dharma Productions, is developing a biographical film based on the life of late lawyer-activist, C. Sankaran Nair. The courtroom drama will be helmed by Karan Singh Tyagi and will revolve around the story of how the lawyer tried to uncover the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Mid Day reported that Ananya Panday is also in talks to star as well.
Kumar has also signed up for the Mudassar Aziz helmed comedy Khel Khel Mein. Pinkvilla reported that Kumar was excited about the film which will see him in an all out comedic role after a while. The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and Ashwin Varde.
According to a report in MensXP, the actor has also joined hands with Dinesh Vijan, marking the first collaboration between the two. Vijan’s film is touted to be an aviation thriller based on one of the ‘biggest victories’ of the Indian Air Force. The movie is expected to go on floors next year.
Kumar is currently awaiting the release of his next film, Raksha Bandhan, helmed by Raksha Bandhan. The film will be released in theatres on August 11. The actor is currently working on the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, sharing the screen with Radhika Madan.
