Director Ali Abbas Zafar, who has previously impressed Bollywood fans with movies such as Gunday and Sultan, is currently working on a very interesting project. According to the latest reports, the filmmaker has bagged the remake rights of Jason Statham led franchise, Transporter.
As reported by Pinkvilla, the filmmaker has already bagged the rights to remake the movie from the action franchise. Zafar has been in talks with EuropaCorp, the studio, and has bought the rights for a “hefty” amount.
A source close to the development also said that Zafar will be directing and writing the script for the movie and that he has bagged the rights for his banner AAZ Entertainments.
The source added that the movie will be made with an A-Lister from Bollywood. "But the casting will be made once Ali is done with the work of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He has already zeroed in on a couple of names, but it will all eventually boil down to the dates of actors,” said the source.
Ali Abbas Zafar, who has also helmed movies such as Tiger Zinda Hai, Bharat and Khaali Peeli, is currently working on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The movie has Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff as its main leads, and has already excited the fans.
The Transporter was released in 2002, starring Jason Statham in the lead and directed by Corey Yuen. The movie followed a mercenary driver for hire, who could transport anything anywhere without questions. The movie became a hit, despite receiving only mixed reviews.
The movie’s success saw three more sequels made for the movie, titled Transporter 2 and Transporter 3, The Transporter Refueled. The latter was a reboot movie which featured Ed Skrein in the lead.
