Director Amal Neerad, whose film Bheeshma Parvam released in theatres on March 3, put up a request on social media just hours after the Mammootty-starrer hit cinema halls, urging the audience to not watch the movie on their phones.

The film, which was shot during the pandemic, marked Mammootty’s first big release this year and was also the first Malayalam movie to play at 100% theatre occupancy this year. The gangster thriller, which also has references to The Godfather and Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar, is packed with punch dialogues, slow motion action scenes and some delightful performances by the cast.

This could all have also been the reason certain fans had uploaded clips of the movie online. Amal, who teamed up with Mammootty for the second time after Big B in 2007 for this film, took to his social media page to request fans to no upload the video clips.

“We have shot this movie with a lot of effort during the pandemic times,” he wrote, adding that he is urging everyone to watch it in all its glory in the cinema halls and “not upload bits of the film shot on mobile phones”.

Even before the film’s release, there were several rumours of impending fan clashes online. Mammootty too, in a press meet earlier in the week, had said this was a wrong tendency and fans should refrain from it.

Meanwhile, Bheeshma Parvam has opened to largely favourable reviews . The film, set in the late 1980s, revolves around the conflicts between families with its protagonist Michael being the patriarch who is both respected and feared by his kith and kin.

Apart from Mammootty, the film also stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Nadiya Moidu, Srinda, Sudev Nair, Shebin Benson, Anagha, Lena, Dileesh Pothan and Nedumudi Venu. The movie has music composed by Sushin Shyam .
