Varun Dhawan says he will make his debut on the OTT platform with a big show. Amidst media reports about the 34-year-old actor foraying into the digital medium with the Indian spin-off of the action-packed American spy series Citadel, Dhawan teased his OTT debut.
At a media interaction on Monday evening, Dhawan said, without divulging details, that he loves the OTT platform. Something big and interesting is coming. But it won't be released this year, and he is excited about it.
On the film front, the October actor has two releases: Jug Jugg Jeeyo, a comedy-drama with Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Kiara Advani; and the comedy-horror Bhediya, directed by Stree director Amar Kaushik. Both films are slated for release this year.
Dhawan said while he is excited about the release of his films, the pandemic has made him realize that life is not all about one's professional life.
He said that his father, David Dhawan, has been working for so many years and has made 45–46 films, and he had to sit at home. They all had to due to the pandemic, and the actor is much younger. They have to realise that their lives can't be this; they need to have other personal growth. Films are back and Varun has Jug Jugg Jeeyo and Bhediya coming. He had a great time working on these two films.
Meanwhile, there have been rumours that Varun and Janhvi Kapoor are collaborating on a film. The actor was set to act in two films, Ranbhoomi and Mr. Lele, but the former was shelved, while the latter was remade as Govinda Naam Mera, starring Vicky Kaushal. Janhvi was reportedly offered both films while Varun was a part of them.
There were also rumours a few months ago that the two might collaborate on Nitesh Tiwari's next film. However, the film has not been formally revealed as of yet.
Varun and Janhvi have now intimated on social media that they are working on a project together. Varun shared a photo of a mug with the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment logo on his Instagram story. "Ab Hoga _______," the actor posted on his Instagram story. "Excitement se mujhe bukhaar," Janhvi said in the reshared post.
The project will be announced on March 30 at 12 pm.
