Diego Luna marks his return as Andor in the latest Star Wars series. The actor, who played the role in 2016’s Rogue One, marks his return for this spin-off series. Interestingly, Andor is also the prequel to Rogue One (obviously).
Diego will be seen as the Rebel captain and intelligence officer Cassian Andor, who played a major role in destroying the Death Star. For the non-Star Wars fans, Andor had sacrificed himself while destroying the Death Star. In fact, Rogue One ended with Andor’s death. Thus, the series is, in a way, a tribute to the character and one where we get to see his backstory.
The special look revealed sees Andor join the team of Rebellions and fight the stormtroopers. However, it does not end there. He too had a love story or the new promo at least promises that.
Watch it here:
Andor mouths a dialogue, “I’m tired of losing,” thus justifying his strong will to enter the Death Star and come out a hero. The series is set before A New Hope (1977 film and Episode IV of the franchise).
Andor’s release date was announced on Disney Plus day with another special promo. The first three episodes of the show will premiere on September 21. The remaining nine episodes will be released every Wednesday on Disney+Hotstar. The mkaers have decided to release three episodes in four parts.
Interestingly, Andor overlaps with the timeline of the first season of Rebels. Thus, the Ghost team might also make it to the series.
Directed by Tony Gilroy, Andor is the third live-action series of 2022 after Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book Of Bobba Fett. The hopes are certainly high from this one and it has big shoes to fill which so far it is flawlessly filling.
