Anees Bazmee on Hindi films' poor box office performances: We need to make good quality films

Anees Bazmee's film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 distinguished itself with its entertainment value and outstanding box office revenues during a period when the Hindi film industry is experiencing a slump and had poor box office results. With its theatrical release, the movie, which starred Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani in the major parts, made over 181 crore. In an interview with ETimes, Bazmee discussed the urgent need to boost Hindi film box office performances.

The filmmaker said that the industry must understand the importance of producing high-caliber movies. What audiences enjoyed five to ten years ago is no longer enjoyable. due to their extensive exposure. During the pandemic, they viewed free content from around the globe while seated at home. Therefore, one must offer them something better if they want them to leave their houses and purchase a ticket to see a movie at a theatre.

Bazmee also thinks there is no merit to the North vs. South movie dispute. He says, "Mujhe iss baat mein koi dum nahin lagta." The filmmaker further said that both the film industries have been around for a while and have produced quality movies. South Indian films have been dubbed into Hindi, and vice versa. Both the acting and directing professions have talented individuals. It is useless to discuss the 13 failures in addition to the three hits. Because India produces almost 200 films annually, of which five to seven are box office successes. Therefore, this time those three South Indians movies were excellent and successful, and Bollywood films didn't work. There is nothing else.

Meanwhile, Bazmee is gearing up to helm the sequel to No Entry, titled No Entry Mein Entry. The film will have Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, and Fardeen Khan reprise their roles from the original flick. The movie is likely to go on floors towards the end of this year.
