Aniissh (Tejeshwar) is ready to bring his next, Benki, to audiences. Yesterday, the actor released the trailer of the film and announced July 15 as its release date. Benki, which has been produced by the actor under his Winkwhistle Productions, has been directed by AR Shaan, the son of veteran filmmaker AR Babu. A commercial entertainer, Benki explores a brother-sister relationship, in which Sruthi Patil plays Aniissh’s sister.
In earlier interactions with the media, Aniissh had explained that the title is also the name of his character in the film and that there is a reason behind it. A part of the narrative explains why his character is called Benki, but the majority of the film is about the brother-sister relationship. Sruthi’s character Seetha is a well-educated village belle, who faces certain issues from a guy who was to marry her. While much of the film runs high on emotions, there are high-octane action sequences as well. Also, even though Sampada Hulivana is paired with the actor, the film apparently has a horror-comedy element, with the actress playing a ghost.
Talking about Benki during its pre-release press meet, Aniissh said that he took it up as an actor and producer because he was quite impressed by the story that Shaan presented. “I wasn’t listening to the narration as an actor, but as a member of the audience and I was thoroughly entertained. I told him almost immediately that we will do this film,” said the actor.
Benki is Aniissh’s 11th as an actor and third as producer. The first look and poster of the film was revealed in January this year, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday. While Aniissh was last seen in Ramarjuna, which was his directorial debut as well, Sampada was a part of Nikhil Kumar’s Rider. The film has music by Anand Rajavikram and cinematography by Venus Nagaraj Murthy.
