Anil Kapoor believes it's challenging to switch gears between being a father and a student of cinema when working with his son, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, a position he manages by following the golden rule of "listen then react." The young actor has followed an unusual professional path since his debut feature, Mirzya, which includes the vigilante action-drama Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and the Netflix anthology Ray. He'll soon be featured opposite his father, Anil Kapoor, in Thar, a Netflix film.

The 65-year-old actor, who has over four decades of film experience under his belt, believes he would never be able to give his son any advice due to the unpredictable nature of the industry.

Anil told PTI that he always takes a backseat and listens, then comprehends before reacting. But, because he is a father, he occasionally acts like one. But Anil is still working on things like how he is going to manage Harsh. The Mr. India actor quizzes himself on whether he should deal with his son as an actor, a producer, a film student, or a father. Anil is also progressing, and he won't be able to pinpoint the problem.

The Tezaab actor shared that he is still a work-in-progress because, in the field, no one understands what's right and what's incorrect. One does it sometimes because they admire the filmmakers or the story. Sometimes things go well, and sometimes they don't, and he is likewise attempting to comprehend.

The father-son team previously cooperated on the Netflix film AK vs AK, in which Harsh Varrdhan had a guest appearance. The legendary actor said his son approached him about acting in Thar, and he agreed since it would let him explore new terrain as a performer.

Anil said that he liked the world and his role, but he felt like he hadn't accomplished much during this time. The story has been told in a unique manner. It's interesting and fascinating in its own right, but it's not "atrangi."

According to Anil, the director tried hard to establish an appropriate look and atmosphere for Thar's setting and plot. He stated that working on the film with the younger generation of performers and creators was a blast.

"I'm part of this young brigade," he explained, where the director is new, the cameraman is new, the DOP is new, the music and costume guy are new, and they all have new perspectives, but one takes that chance.

Thar, which also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Satish Kaushik, will be released on Netflix on May 6, 2022.
