Animal star Ranbir Kapoor's take on Kabir Singh's character will leave you startled

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, was one of the biggest hits of 2019. While the film did incredibly well at the box office, some people found Shahid's character a bit problematic. However, Ranbir Kapoor has a different take on Shahid's role in Sandeep's film. 

In an interview, the Animal star admitted he has watched both Arjun Reddy and its Hindi version, Kabir Singh. And Ranbir found the characters to be 'powerful and impactful'.

Speaking with Variety, Ranbir revealed he was really drawn to the script of Animal. He found Sandeep's film to be 'unique and intense'.

When asked if he has watched Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, the actor said, "As for watching Arjun Reddy or Kabir Singh, I must admit that I did watch both films and found them to be incredibly powerful and impactful. However, my decision to accept Animal was not solely based on those films."

Ranbir continued to add as to why he chose to do Animal. "It was more about the script, the character, and the opportunity to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. I believe Animal will offer a different experience altogether, and I’m excited to explore this new dimension in my acting journey," added Kapoor.

About Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh

For those who are unaware, Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed both Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. While Arjun Reddy featured Vijay Deverakonda, Shahid played the titular role in Kabir Singh. Both movies did well at the box office.

Animal marks Ranbir and Sandeep's first collaboration. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. While Anil plays the role of Ranbir's father, Bobby will be seen as a menacing villain. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 1, 2023. It will lock horns with Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur at the box office.
