While Farhan Akhtar-Mrunal Thakur's sports drama Toofan is all geared to release directly on Amazon Prime Video on July 16, the streaming giant has reportedly finalised another regional sports film for a direct-to-OTT release. We're talking about Kaala filmmaker Pa. Ranjith's magnum-opus in Tamil, Sarpatta Parambarai, starring Arya, Dushhara, Sanjana Natarajan, Kalaiyarasan, Kaali Venkat, and Santhosh Prathap in key roles.

Sarpatta Parambarai joins the list of many Tamil films opting for an OTT release including Doctor, Idiot, Sumo and Vellai Yennai, reported Sify. This will be actor Arya's second film to release on OTT directly after the medical-thriller Teddy, which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar earlier this year. Produced by Neelam Productions and K9 Studioz, the sports drama's crew includes composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer G Murali and editor RK Selva.

The film is set in the 80s and will uncover the lifestyle of boxers in that particular era. Arya left no stone unturned to bulk up and suit his part for Sarpatta Parambarai. The makers and the streaming platform are considering an August 15 release date for the same. Incidentally, Doctor is also slated to release during the Independence Day weekend. Further details are awaited.
