Nani is back with a fun entertainer and the movie seems to have worked a treat with the fans. The actor has now opened up about the movie following its release and commented on what helps the movie to stick out from the rest.
“It’s one of those rare scripts that wins you over immediately. Sundar Prasad is flawed and insecure; it was super fun portraying this character. Ante Sundaraniki will make you laugh, cry and want to hug your loved ones. It’s the perfect family entertainer,” Nani told Times of India.
The star also said that we needed a light-hearted entertainer following the pandemic and that Ante Sundaraniki is just that. He added that the movie was made with heart and soul and that he is glad that the audiences are enjoying it.
The movie follows Nani’s Sundar Prasad, a man trying to escape his overbearing parents and Nazriya Nazim Fahadh’s Leela Thomas, a photographer. Centering around their inter-religious romance and the troubles that it brings, the movie has received favourable reactions from critics.
“It’s progressive, funny, emotional, thought-provoking and works as a satire and a romance too - the mishmash is a comic delight that you can’t have enough of. If you had to name one man who deserves the lion’s share of the credit - it’s certainly the writer, director Vivek Athreya.” read the movie’s review on OTTplay.
The movie is directed by Vivek Athreya and also marks the Telugu debut of Nazriya, who was last seen in Anwar Rasheed’s Trance.
“He is a gem of a director, he has an original voice (which is rare) and doesn’t make films based on trends. Even if we give his script to any other director, none can execute it like him,” Nani said, about director Vivek in an exclusive with OTTplay.
Backed by Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, the movie is now available in theatres near you.
