Bollywood seems to have its fair share of critics, and the industry has been drawing flak for quite a few reasons from them. On occasion, even the ones who are a part of the industry have not shied away from pointing out Bollywood’s faults. Anurag Kashyap, who is currently awaiting the release of his directorial Dobaaraa, recently opened up about the unsupportive nature of the industry.

In conversation with TOI, Anurag spoke of how he had faced many instances which made him realise just how unsupportive Bollywood really is. The director opened up about an incident where he had tried to stand up for someone. At that moment he was told that it was not his fight and questioned why he was becoming involved. The director added that he was told to shut up as well.

The director also spoke of how he got the chance to make films the way he wanted to now, and that was one of the biggest markers of success for him. Success which only involved making a lot of money wasn't as meaningful. Anurag said that making money was fairly easy, and one could do so by bringing in big stars. The director said that sometimes he would even bring in actors people didn't want him to work with for his films. He added that he was very happy with the way his life is going at the moment as well.

Anurag’s next directorial comes in the form of Dobaraa, the Hindi remake of Oriol Paulo’s 2018 Spanish film called Mirage. Dobaraa stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati in lead roles. The film was produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose under the banners of Cult Movies and ATHENA.

Dobaaraa will hit the silver screens on August 19, 2022.
