Actor-turned-director Arindam Sil started his filmmaking career 10 years ago with Aborto. After a decade, the director took to social media to thank his audience with a video that recaps his filmmaking journey. On August 11, his 14th film Byomkesh Hatyamancha will hit the theatre.
In these 10 years of filmmaking, Arindam worked in several successful franchises, including Byomkesh Bakshi and Goyenda Shabor. In June, his fourth instalment of the Shabor series, Tirandaj Shabor was released and received mixed to positive reviews.
On Sunday, Arindam posted the video with a note: “10 years, 18 films… The journey has been a remarkable one. Uncountable memories, innumerable experiences… Met and worked with wonderful people who are now like a family. A decade in Direction. My gratitude to each one of you, who has been a part of my journey. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful audience who have loved my films. The journey will continue… Keep showering your love, support and your precious blessings.”
While the trailer of Byomkesh Hatyamancha is out, the filmmaker’s three other films, Maayakumari, Iskaboner Bibi and Khela Jokhon will also be released this year. Maayakumari features Rityparna Sengupta and Abir Chatterjee in lead. Iskaboner Bibi – a thriller – has Arunima Ghosh and Trina Saha. The first leg of the shooting is over. Khela Jokhon will feature Susmita Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty and Arjun Chakrabarty in the key characters.
Meanwhile, the director is excited about his Byomkesh release. After the appreciation was received post teaser launch, Arindam said that he was overwhelmed. “It just shows how eagerly Byomkesh fans are waiting for a film,” he told us. The previous Byomkesh instalment, Byomkesh Gotro was released in 2018.
