As Aazhi-Thaai Kizhavi clash, Sarathkumar roots for wife Radikaa's film: I hope it runs for 100 days

Two Tamil films, Aazhi and Thaai Kizhavi, will clash at the box office this Friday. Though this could be any release weekend, what sets apart these movies are that they are led by Sarathkumar and Radikaa Sarathkumar, the real-life husband and wife. Despite the box office clash, Sarath Kumar has rooted for his wife Radikaa's film, saying that he hopes Thaai Kizhavi runs for 100 days.

The upcoming Tamil film Thaai Kizhavi, starring Radikaa Sarathkumar, is set to release on February 27, 2026, along with Sarathkumar-led Aazhi. Thaai Kizhavi, backed by actor Sivakarthikeyan, held a pre-release event on Monday which also had Sarathkumar in attendance.
“More than wishing for Aazhi to succeed, I hope Thaai Kizhavi runs for 100 days, because I win if my wife wins,” Sarathkumar said during the event.
The Dude actor went on to say what he liked the best about Thaai Kizhavi (godmother) was how it highlighted the importance of women. Notably both Aazhi and Thaai Kizhavi were scheduled to release on February 20, but were postponed to February 27.
What is Thaai Kizhavi about
Sivakumar Murugesan has directed Thaai Kizhavi in his debut directorial venture. Thaai Kizhavi revolves around the titular character, played by Radikaa Sarathkumar, who lives on her own terms. Even when her adult children urge her to give them their share of the property, the elderly woman insists that all the wealth is for her to enjoy. The film follows the men’s attempts to get the money even as the woman is hospitalized.

On the other hand, Aazhi is led by Sarathkumar and is helmed by Madhav Ramadasan. Indrajith Jagajith, Devika Satheesh, Vaiyapuri, Sreejith Revi, Birla Bose, and Thamaraiselvi are also part of the film, which is set against the backdrop of the sea.
Jana Nayagan actor Vijay’s 2016 film Theri is also re-releasing in theatres on Friday.
