Directed by Mahesh Reddy, Atharva released in theatres for December 2023

Riding on the thriller wave in Telugu cinema, Atharva, bringing together newcomer Karthik Raju and Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi, Sehari actress Simran Choudhary in the lead roles, released in theatres in December. The film, set amidst a forensic investigation backdrop, was directed by Mahesh Reddy. Subhash Nuthalapati bankrolled the film under Peggo Entertainments.
After receiving mixed responses and a modest theatrical run, the film gears up for its OTT premiere. Upcoming streaming platform ETV Win, owned by the Eenadu group, has acquired the post-theatrical OTT rights. Nearly six weeks after its theatrical release, Atharva will be out on the streamer on January 11 and aims to reach a wider section of audiences ahead of the Sankranthi season.
The story revolves around the titular character Atharva (Karthik Raju), whose only aim is to turn a cop. However, owing to a health condition, he lands a job in the Telangana Clues and Forensic department. When an actress friend of his passes away one day, the cops believe the former’s boyfriend is the murderer. However, when he digs deep, Atharva unearths darker mysteries.
While reviewing it, OTTplay.com's critic opined Atharva was an investigative thriller sans depth. “The thrills are limited and once the twist is revealed, the film becomes predictable making it a boring watch this weekend,” he wrote. Ayraa, Arvind Krishna, Kabir Duhan Singh, G Marimuthu, Anand, Kiran Macha, Shiva Kumar, Vijaya Rama Raju, Gagan Vihari form the supporting cast.
Charan Madhavaneni cranked the camera for the film which had a music score by Sricharan Pakala. SB Uddhav edited the film while Raam Kumar was the art director. Kasarla Shyam, Kittu Vissapragada wrote the lyrics for the songs with Bhanu, Rajkrishna choreographing the dance moves. Wing Chun Anji, Premsun were the stunt directors.
