Fans of sci-fi and fantasy movies, hold on to your seats tight. The year 2022 seems to be very happening. Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. are trying to make their mark this year with their highly-anticipated movies. Marvel's movie, Doctor Strange 2, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, is releasing on May 6 and interestingly, there are reports that suggest that makers of Avatar 2 have decided to release the trailer of their movie on the same day.
The first movie, Avatar became the highest grosser of all time at the box office due to its unique visual effects. The film faced its biggest competition when Marvel's Avengers: Endgame was released in 2019, which led the charts until James Cameron's movie was re-released in theatres in the US. According to Ankler, Disney is planning to release the trailer on May 6 and hopes that it will be a win-win situation for them with their sci-fi movie and by earning a few more bucks for Doctor Strange 2 from Avatar fans.
Avatar 2, directed by James Cameron, is the second film in the popular Avatar movie franchise. Cameron had announced the first two sequels to the epic sci-fi film in 2010 after the huge success of Avatar, which was released in 2009. The second part will have Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald reprising their roles, and Sigourney Weaver returning in a different role. The film will also have some new cast members that include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones.
The film will revolve around Jake Sully and Neytiri who have built their own family but their lives are at stake when an old threat returns and they are forced to find another settlement in a different region of Pandora. The shooting of the film began in 2017 and was completed after three years in September 2020.
